breaks and techno at the moment, but it could be anythin from classic house through to the evilist of hard house
Pioneering his way through the traitorous dance scene from one of the North's capitols of dance history, Sheffield born Ed Croft stamps his mark wherever you dare to tread. Passionate about the music, the scene, the people, Ed creates his own compositions and style through twisted funky broken beats, uplifting trance, jilted NU NRG and filthy pounding hard house thrashes. Constantly challenging his own talent and technique, he produces consistent ear bleeding chaos and a cheesy grin that is always a crowd pleaser.
Ed has changed his styles over time, starting with uplifting, driving trance from the mid to late 90’s, then taking to the harder side of house and trance from the turn of the century, the scene then progressed to have a techno influence which caught Ed’s eye, funky, chunky and giving the music he loved a different edge.
The techno he found back then has since changed the style of music he plays now, bringing all aspects of the past to make the present; a blend of electro/ techy tinged uplifting breaks and house, bringing in classic trance from the era that started Ed’s journey and the odd slab of funky hard house.
Other influences of Ed’s music styles lie within both the same dance fields, and indie/ rock groups and bands such as the Prodigy, Faithless, Fatboy Slim, Orbital, Leftfield, Chemical Brothers, Underworld and the newer side of live dance music, people like Hot Chip, New Young Pony Club, Kissy Sell Out and the like. On the band side Oasis, Coldplay, The Killers, Kasabian, Blur etc have all influenced Ed as a person and his musical direction.
Ed has worked along side some of Hard Dance’s major players while holding a residency at one of Manchester’s finest Hard House nights – PUREFILTH! Djing along side Paul Glazby, Captain Tinrib, Paul Maddox, Andy Farley, Anne Savage, JP and Jukesy, Superfast Oz, Justin Bourne, Pickup & Rise, Cally Cage, Karim, IanM, Little Miss Natalie, Ben Stevens, Nick Denton and Dave Owens.
Other Dj’s that have influenced Ed over time include Sasha, John Digweed, Darren Emerson, Dave Seaman, Tall Paul, Scott Bond, Matt Hardwick, John 00 Flemming, Tony de Vit, Lisa Lashes, Plump Djs, Erol Alkan, Claude von Stroke, Laurent Garnier, James Lavelle, Evil Nine, Carl Cox, Ritchie Hawtin, Nice Guy Danny, John Kelly, James Zabeillia, Nic Fanciulli, Nick Warren, Paul Oakenfold, Fergie, Deep Dish, Danny Tenaglia, and Annie Mac to name a few.
Throwing the arena open to contemporary funky uplifting sounds through to Vicious Circle classics, Ed’s varied and experimental use of the finest quality underground dance music allows strong and striking mixing that will always deliver the goods.Ed blends his ongoing thoughts and musical tastes into another dimension.
Step back; don't get too close, you never know what he will do next.
